Kim Kardashian, Tia Tequila, The Gosselins, Angelina Jolie, Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears....
People are fascinated with celebrities. Their hard earned cash goes to buying magazines and gossip filled newspapers by the truckload. Their eyes feast on every single word written about their favorite celebrities and non-celebrities.
Did Britney suffer another breakdown today? I must find out !
Did the Gosselins fight again? Did Kate finally get rid of that god-forsaken weave? Did John blow a casino dealer in Vegas? I have to know now!
How dare Tia Tequila pose in a bra outside of her home three days after the death of her "wifey"! I have to know what she is doing today. Is she sitting naked on top of a flag pole?!
Oh no! The cable is out! How will I ever watch The Kardashians? Argh! I can't take the agony of not seeing Kim's large behind!
I find it bizarre how people attached themselves to celebrities. They drool over this one and absorb every written word about another.
I was out driving with my husband last weekend. As we were driving passed our local Lowe's Home Improvement store, I watched as a car ahead of me was making a left turn. The license plate had Johnny Depp's name on it. It was something ridiculous like 4evrDepp. It wasn't the exact license reading. I can't remember exactly what it was, but it did have Depp's name on it.
I mean really!
Why do we absorb the writings involving how celebrities live? Why do we focus on whether or not Britney flashed her poon at the world again? Why do we care if Jennifer Aniston is still pining over Brad Pitt?
It is almost as if we delve into it because it's a world that we wish to be a part of. I suppose those lives are fantasy lives for some of us. If we can't have it ourselves, we may as well lose ourselves in the gossip and pretend. I truly can't think of any other reason to lose yourself in that way.
I'd rather keep walking the reality line. It seems like a better alternative than to make my every waking and breathing moment be about someone that I will never meet and never speak to.
Celebrities do not think of us, so really, why do we waste so much time thinking about them?
